Improving Stakeholder Communications for Bedford Hospital
Phew has been supporting Bedford Hospital’s internet marketing activities for several years and provides a range of services including web design and development, e-marketing campaigns, search marketing and consultancy. During this time, visitor numbers to the Hospital’s website have increased by almost 200% whilst the bounce rate has decreased to under 15%.
Over time, Phew has helped Bedford Hospital to develop its website from a fairly basic site that offered lots of information, but was a little difficult to navigate, to a sophisticated information resource for its stakeholders. One of the keys to the success of the new site is ensuring that it provides concise, accurate and up-to-date information to meet the specific needs of particular groups: patients, visitors, GP’s and Foundation Trust Members.
GPs were given particular focus and were consulted about the sort of information they wanted from the Hospital. This resulted in Phew developing a password protected portal – GP Gateway, which provides GPs with detailed information on clinical specialities and services; performance information (such as waiting times and infection rates); consultant biographies and contact details; referral processes and clinic times.
Kate Burke, Communications and Marketing Manager Comments
“We have had extremely good feedback from all our stakeholder groups because it is now easier and faster to find the information they need. The GP Gateway has brought a number of benefits both to GPs and the hospital. Using Phew’s simple Content Management System we can quickly update information so that it can be relied upon to be correct and relevant. This information was previously supplied in a printed handbook which not only quickly became out of date and inaccurate but was an additional cost for the hospital”
Through a mailing list that has been developed by surgeries signing up to the GP Gateway, Bedford Hospital is also able to send out proactive updates to doctors via emarketing campaigns managed by Phew, so that it does not have to rely on GPs accessing the hospital’s website, but can ensure that important news and information is delivered to their desktops quickly and efficiently.”
Kate Concludes:
“Phew is an excellent company to deal with. They consistently deliver over and above what we expect of them and whilst they listen to our ideas, they are creative and come to us with proactive suggestions about how we can continually improve our internet marketing.”
