Improving Online Communications between Young People and Connexions

A reorganisation of the Connexions service provided an ideal opportunity for Pauline Risk, Communications Manager at Connexions Buckinghamshire, to review how it could better promote its services through the internet.

Pauline chose Phew to help her. She liked the fact that Phew had previously developed websites for another part of the Connexions organisation by consulting with the young people who used their service. Using workshops to gather information she took on board the views of young people in the Buckinghamshire area to determine how the website should look and work.

Pauline Risk, Communications Manager Comments

“I took their feedback and used it to brief Phew on our objectives so that they could respond with proposals. Phew’s ideas were very creative and they had clearly taken time to understand our organisation and the messages we wanted to communicate.

The new website utilised the same colours Connexions uses in its offline publications to ensure that its various forms of communication were complementary. Since launching the new site the number of unique visitors has risen by almost 400% and traffic delivered through search engines has risen from0.4% to 13%.

Connexions Buckinghamshire now uses Phew’s Content Management System (CMS) to update its website and finds it extremely straightforward and quick to make changes.”

Pauline Concludes:

“ The team at Phew is very responsive and they regularly suggest ways in which we can get the best out of our website. The usage statistics they provide are also very useful to us and are an important part of their service because they help us to make informed decisions regarding how to develop the site further.”
